Groupon Now as Real-Time Real-Space Bargain Hunting

I’m just going to come out and say it:

Groupon Now is a game changer.

In case you haven’t heard, Groupon has today released it’s new location based “GrouponNow” service (Chicago only for now).  Made to give users deals on a time and location limited basis.

And  I think it’s going to be huge.

It brings impulse buys to the Groupon marketplace.  If they can pull together a decent recommendation App, only showing me deals I like, then this is as close to solid gold as you’ll likely see in any startup.  What we’re seeing here is real innovation.  We’re seeing value creation.  Take notes.

Imagine this:
You’re in the city centre, you’re having your coffee after a hard day spent shopping.  You casually open the GrouponNow app and up pops a deal for 50% of an item you’ve always wanted.  You finish your coffee and head straight there, snapping up a bargain.

Value Tree:

  • The shop gets value from your custom.
  • You get value from a good deal.
  • Groupon gets value from the shop paying for the service.

Everyone wins, and in the VC world that’s how you spot a winner.

Groupon Now will get you the item you’ve had your eye on for less, it’ll get you into shops making impulse buys.   It’s real-time bargain hunting and real-time deal chasing.

Bargain hunters are going to love Groupon Now, shoppers are going to love Groupon Now.

I love it and i’m not even in Chicago.

I just wish they had a stock symbol so I could get in on the action :)

  2. Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a twenty five foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!.

  3. I do love the way you have framed this particular concern plus it does indeed present me personally a lot of fodder for consideration. Nevertheless, from everything that I have personally seen, I only wish when other reviews stack on that individuals stay on point and don’t get started upon a tirade of the news du jour. All the same, thank you for this exceptional piece and even though I can not concur with the idea in totality, I respect your point of view.

  4. Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with? I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a tough time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!.
